About AIMED
ExperienceApplied
AIMED Simulation was founded to bring specialist synthetic environment expertise to teams that need it — without the overhead of a large consultancy.
Practical Experience, From Capture to Testing
Dominic Sherwood has eighteen years of hands-on experience in synthetic environment production, spanning defence, automotive, motorsport and research simulation applications.
His work has covered the full environment lifecycle — from LiDAR capture planning and source data processing through terrain and road modelling, visual and collision surfaces, optimisation and real-time integration.
That experience includes designing bespoke proving grounds to support vehicle dynamics validation, reproducing military training terrain, and creating large road networks and modular environments for testing and training.
He has also worked closely with software and engineering teams on production tooling, simulation integration, performance checks and factory acceptance testing.
AIMED brings this practical experience to organisations developing new environments or improving existing simulation workflows.
Capability Areas
The requirements of a simulation environment depend on what the system is designed to do. A proving ground, an urban road network, an off-road training environment and an engineering CAD model are different technical problems and should not be treated as generic 3D content.
- Synthetic environment production
- LiDAR and geospatial data
- Photogrammetry
- Terrain and road networks
- CAD-to-realtime optimisation
- Real-time performance
- Simulation integration
- Factory acceptance testing
- Validation and correlation
- Technical leadership
- Supplier and customer coordination
- Simulation programme delivery
Built to Be Tested
Environment delivery does not stop when the model looks complete.
My professional background includes real-time performance testing, collision validation, source-data correlation, visual checks and factory acceptance testing.
AIMED brings that validation mindset into environment production and technical review.
What AIMED Is Not
- Not a general 3D studio that also does simulation work.
- Not tied to any particular tool vendor or software supplier.
- Not a large consultancy with layers of account management.
- Not offering services outside the specific domain of synthetic environments for simulation.
How AIMED Works
Technical Honesty
If something won't work, or if there's a better approach, AIMED will say so — even if it's not what you want to hear.
Independence
No vendor relationships, no preferred suppliers, no incentive to recommend anything other than what's right for the work.
Specificity
AIMED works in one domain. That focus means deeper knowledge and more useful advice than a generalist can provide.
